The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation’s only workforce development program designed to help older workers gain the skills they need to re-enter the workforce. It offers participants paid, on-the-job training, allowing them to build confidence and expertise. During this year’s National Employ Older Workers Week (NEOWW), we celebrate the accomplishments of SCSEP participants like Cyndi Commiso.
Cyndi entered SCSEP on February 5, 2020, and began her training at the York Township Food Pantry in Lombard, IL. Her strong work ethic and dedication quickly stood out to her supervisor, Angela Tanner. Impressed with her commitment to serving the community, Angela offered Cyndi a part-time position at the pantry.
Thanks to SCSEP, Cyndi not only received the training she needed to return to the workforce but also found a meaningful way to give back to her community. As we celebrate NEOWW, Cyndi’s story is a testament to the impact of SCSEP on the lives of older workers and the communities they serve.
At National Able Network, we are proud to celebrate Cyndi and others like her who have found new opportunities through SCSEP. To learn more about SCSEP and how you can get involved, visit our website or contact us today.
