Three years ago, Daniela William migrated to Chicago from Israel. She says, “I came on a trip with my mom, and I thought ‘It’s a gorgeous city. I love Chicago. So now I’m going to stay here!’” Her education and career experience in Israel focused on industrial management engineering and teaching. However, upon seeking work in Chicago she found herself focused on sales. And although she excelled in that industry, she wanted to pursue a career in Information Technology, so she connected with National Able Network and IT Career Lab.
IT Career Lab offers two specialization tracks which lead to two very unique career pathways. The two tracks are: Network & Systems Infrastructure and Data Analytics – both of which are flourishing with career pathways. “I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to try that. I didn’t have that much experience in data analysis, but I’m very passionate about it,” says Daniela. She quickly started the Data Analytics program at IT Career Lab where she would go on to receive intensive training and earn three certifications: Microsoft Office Specialist in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Specialist Access Certification, and Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
Reflecting on her experience in IT Career Lab, Daniela says, “I liked everything…They taught me very well, and it’s a very good program. The teachers were very patient and it was a great experience.” Daniela is now in full-time job search mode. She says, “I believe I could find job in the industry because the certifications I earned through IT Career Lab show I have expertise.” In addition to IT training, Daniela also received job search support at IT Career Lab including resume help and interview preparation. Her dream job is one where she can use Excel or Access, but she’s excited for any data analysis opportunity that matches with her skills.
Congratulations, Daniela! We can’t wait to see you succeed in IT!
